I’m looking to eliminate the Minnesota Twins when we return next year. Minnesota has but a few decent players. Prospects are nothing much to speak of. It’s a bad team with a bleak future. Our league can easily downsize to 19 teams with no negative impact.
I propose this year putting all Minnesota players on the bench from day 1. The team will finish dead last in every category and have zero bearing on the standings. I will make any draft picks the Twins may have this year but they will NOT receive their four guaranteed picks next year.
I propose having a Twins dispersal draft when we return next season. Our last place finisher this year will pick first and choose either a Prospect, Player with existing contract, or draft pick already made.(Milwaukee and Tampa Bay 3rd rounders). Every manager when it’s their turn picks until all players, prospects and draft picks are dispersed. Teams can pass instead of making a pick if they so choose.
Input please?

I'm good with the move, although my OCD is going to hate having 19 teams and not an even number!!!

I am happy taking Minnesota back if it's easier to for recruiting and keeping an even 20. I think I like the prospect of turning around a nothing franchise
Edited by Commish I will keep that in mind. I’m about to recruit again soon. Once the Super Bowl is done guys attention turns to Baseball. Well, at least some. We only need one, lol. Recruiting websites suck. We lost the best one during last season and there isn’t a good source.

I don't love the idea of eliminating a team, but it will be tough to recruit someone to commit to turning the Twins around.
I think the only other option would be adding sandwich picks to this year's draft and maybe next year's (that brought in Brock Wilkin last year) and auctioning off some of the team's more lucrative assets (Reynolds and uh...) for picks and prospects. Even then, there would still be uncertainty with recruitment.
With that said, I'm 55% in favor of contraction.

The draft is 2 days away on the 15th I hope we are not going to make changes at this late date for 2024.

It’s just talk. Nothing done this year. Recruiting has been extremely difficult this year losing the only good platform. I’ve recruited close to 100 managers over the course of four years in our 3 leagues. It was a reliable site. Now, I barely get a sniff and a look at our leagues. There is NO decent source. They are a dozen poor choices with few guys on them.
I’m hoping something breaks and a new site opens up over the season. I’m not even trying to recruit now. I’m letting the other league try to get his two openings filled. The original league consolidated some teams as he couldn’t recruit anyone. It’s bleak.
New rule effective immediately for 2024……No one can quit this league, ever, lol.

Football is over…..in the past February and March has never been a problem for me recruiting new managers until this season. I have one opening here (Cubs) and one opening in my new league (Orioles). I just placed a new recruitment ad on several sites. Let’s see if we get a bite. I continue to look at the Minnesota roster and Prospects. It’s a bleak future for that Franchise. I’m not even attempting to con a new guy into taking this team. I’m removing Minnesota from the league effective next season. We will be a 19 team league. I see no problems with this move.
This season all players will be placed on the bench. From this point forward, no new players will be added to their roster. Minnesota will finish last this season scoring last or a 1 in every category.. Next season Minnesota will NOT receive any draft picks. Minnesota is not in the league this year and will be disbanded next season. .
We will have a dispersal draft immediately upon returning next season. The last place team will have first pick off of the Minnesota roster and Prospects list. Then on to the next team and so on…..Every team will have one pick to either select a player with contract, select a prospect, or pass on their pick. At the end of one round all players not selected will be returned to the player pool.

Is this conversation up for discussion (as I disagree with aspects), or is this the ruling being laid down?

February 9th I outlined this same proposed proposed change. There was a suggestion to add a few sandwich picks to the draft. That helps Minnesota but hurts the weaker teams.
No one has given me a solution to our problem which is no one wanting this team and also having very weak sites for recruiting purposes.
So I guess the answer would be a ruling unless I hear something that sounds better. The final final decision needs to be made soon before we get too far into this season.

I disagree with the Dispersal draft, as a team may tank on purpose to get the best player. All players should become contract less free agents.
I also disagree with a 19 team league, but don't have any solutions for that.

Good, Ok…….now that is another answer. Keep them coming. As far as tanking goes, the last place team gets the first pick in the draft. There is incentive to tank already. Also, there are no game changers on Minnesota that will help a last place team.
I like the idea of giving weaker teams a little boost with my draft proposal. In all leagues I have ever seen there is a big difference between top teams and bottom teams. The gap tends to get bigger over time. Weaker teams turn over far faster than good teams.
Recruiting isn’t fun for a Commish. It takes lots of time to find, replace, and train new managers. Helping weaker teams is in the best interest of the Commish. We and I get stuck doing all the work. Ask Rodger and Wally how much time is involved.
I want managers to stay. It’s better for the league in the long run. And I don’t want to dwell on the negative but recruiting options at the moment are dreadful and potentially catastrophic unless things change.

I didn’t notice until now that Minnesota traded for two 3rd round picks in 2025. Ok.Will leave Minnesota in the league and do daily roster changes on Yahoo. I’ll begin to recruit for the team. Thanks for the feedback.
Again new rule……no one can quit our league, haha.

I still don’t have a manager who wants Minnesota. The team is short 5 players and needs pitching. We need to keep Minnesota as viable as possible. I took the liberty of bidding on several free agents for the team. I’m not in conflict with my team as I’m done bidding on players for now.
I did bid and won several free agents for an open team one or two years ago to replace players that went on the IL. I’m not trading for players. I’m just trying to keep the team afloat. I see no harm in doing this. There will be no trades. I intend to,add, about three Pitchers at this time.
I will make daily roster changes and score as many points as possible for Minnesota.
