Hey Guys, What's the deal with 1/2 price buyouts? Why should you have to pay extra to buy a guy out? His full salary is already on your books. Now you have to pay more $ to buy him out. I always thought the purpose of a buyout was to drop that player and recover 1/2 his salary on your books. Now you have to pay his salary plus 1/2 more to drop him. A buyout should be a team cost cutting procedure. If you have a player $10/1 and you buy him out it really cost you $15 total. I think you buy him out and get $5. added to your cap or at least drop him for zero. Any thoughts?

This is already the case, "the purpose of a buyout was to drop that player and recover 1/2 his salary on your books". If this was not implemented in any specific case just let the admins know and they will surely modify it.

Buyouts

All buyouts cost the team 50% regardless of length of contract.
Example: Jim Paxton $5/4. buyout costs $10 for all four years. I will post his name under buyouts and color the $10 in red. His name is then removed from the SP roster along with his 2023 salary of $5. (And the other three years is removed as well)
All three leagues do buyouts the same. We do not buyout just this years player salary but all years at once. Allowing player buyouts a year at a time would cause all sorts of accounting nightmares and become to complicated. Only a small percentage of players should ever be signed to a four year contract. Most players should be signed for two years max. Signing too many players to three or four year contracts will cripple your team. You will not have any cap to spend down the road.
