Hey Rook,
Earlier today, the former manager of the Mariners sent a paragraph-long message in the Yahoo league chat asking for the league address what he feels was an overstep in you removing him. Though I don't have the full picture behind your interactions with him, he's arguing that his slow responses to player discussions and trades of late do not warrant being kicked out. I think he's also comparing his situation to past ownerless teams who are already on their 2nd or 3rd new manager for showing much greater inactivity than himself, and he asserted that he is and has been an interested manager.
I'm going to acknowledge that message and show some support. Like I said, there might be a longer history of infrequent activity that I'm not fully aware of, not to mention there's already someone who has claimed his spot and is just getting comfortable. However, I think the speed at which this turnover has happened also speaks to a need for more patience and understanding. If he was really that inactive and indifferent to the league, I don't think he would care enough to make the effort that he is to get back in.
Obviously a new manger has come in very fast, but even if bringing him back is not something you want to do, I'm requesting as a fellow manager that you make amends with him. The rules, which encourage at least a check-in every day or every other day, may seem reasonable, but in the end people have their lives. I know that personally, my summer job makes it particularly hard for me to regularly log into ProBoards outside of weekends, but this hasn't posed problems.
Again, I ask that you reach out to him and discuss the issue further if you haven't already. Looking forward to Spring Training.

Ok…where do I begin.
Last year:
1) Neil forgot to pick up three free agent players he won. He received penalties which he complained about. He kind of lost interest after that.
2) Neil was notified he needed to fill his depleted roster. He had plenty of cap, lots of injuries. I had to push him to get new players. He did but wasn’t in to his team to compete. His roster was short players.
3) This year… He was late arriving to the league. He was emailed twice to see if he was returning, because I needed to replace him if he quit. He didn’t respond but did show up at the last minute. He promptly disappeared for over a week after he made his cameo appearance. I’m wasting time tracking him down.
4) He was warned last year and at the start of this year that he needed to be more involved with his team.
5) He missed both his draft picks.
6) In his warnings he was told to become more active or I would have to replace him.
He was given plenty of friendly advise, then more strong advise, then an ultimatum, then removal. If any manager becomes lazy, not setting lineups, not getting free agents, not following procedures then I don’t need him. Weak managers make this league weak. You all know this. There is a reason why 19-20 managers do their job, are active, trade, get free agents, set lineups. It’s because I won’t settle for less and have found quality managers.. If half the league were like Neil, the other good managers in this league would lose interest and many would quit. The league wouldn’t be strong. I started both leagues….fired 8 managers each time, each league, just during our initial draft. I’ve had close to 100 managers total in both leagues while running both. Why are there more than 100 trades each year each league…….dedicated managers…..it didn’t happen by accident. Rodger is just as dedicated in Moneyballers.
No manager gets replaced without knowing why it happened. I contact any manager that may have a problem or perceived problem. We talk it out and move forward. 100% of our current managers are doing a great job. No one needs to worry about being replaced. Also, I put tons of my time into this league from day 1. I’ll be damned if I allow anyone to disrespect all that hard work I put into this league with limited lazy effort. Not going to happen!
When I was a manager in real life…1) I managed proactively 2) if I have to do your job then I don’t need you.
There is no reason to run all this by Neil again and again and again. Moving forward. Welcome Chris
