This is an abhorrent rule that serves no purpose. If a manager finds some way to abuse any situation in fantasy baseball its dealt with the same way on a case to case basis. But to stick a manager with a forced buyout massive cap hit, lose the player they won and restrict them from bidding is egregious. My roster is in total rebuild and has 9 open roster spots and i get punished because I don't add my own player fast enough? I have been in dynasty baseball leagues for 15 years and have never run into this before. I stay active in this league and make trades and moves more than half the league. I do not understand why this rule exists. I get a bad flu and now I am over the cap with 9 open roster spots. not sure what sense this makes especially when I need to compete to increase my cap space for next year. No i cant compete and will fall in the ranks and have an even more reduced cap next season. This is unfair and ridiculous. I should not be the only one to see the error of this rule. this will have multi year ramifications for my team.

This should not affect future years payroll, as all penalties and buyouts are in the current year.

I understand that but future payroll is decided by league standings. With so many empty roster spots i cant fill due to the buy out hit i will plummet to the bottom by years end. Lowering my 2023 salary cap.

By utilizing your draft picks and trading where necessary, you should be able to undig and compete in 2 years, potentially 4 years to the title.
My plan from day one has been very obvious, and I expect to compete for first place in 2024 (and multiple years thereafter). While it's not a pretty road, it gives the best chance for success.
By planning a team in this fashion, you sjould have little competition for the 2026 players, and when I start to ramp up in 2023, I have no issue trading my "too young (High School)" talent for MLB ready.
A suggestion when doing this, trade down picks (except pick#1) for multiple shots amd draft 'em young.
My two cents. With your experience, knowledge and fortitude to stick it out; you should be able to turn the team around.

I understand how you feel. I hate it myself…Kyle Brewers has been in the original league for I’m guessing at least six years and myself 3-4. That league has the exact same rule as well as our sister league going on year three. As far as I know this is the only time a high priced free agent player/contract hasn’t been picked up on time. We have had small contracts/average players not picked up within three days. I forgot myself in the original league several years ago.
Now for the bottom line/ tough love response. We don’t coddle managers as noted in the Official Rules. These three leagues of ours expect managers to pay attention. This was the third time you failed to add a player within 3 days as pointed out to you in a prior message. I covered for you in two of these incidences which actually violates our rules. I did so because I don’t like this rule myself. I couldn’t do it a third time with Brash. Honestly it’s not a league problem.
I will do my best to see if Rodger and I can come up with a less harsh penalty rather than a full buyout for a huge contract. That won’t happen until next year. In the meantime I hope you will stay with us. It’s no fun without any cap left this early in the season. It’s happened to me before but I got over it.
