This year all new managers receive one free buyout and one extra first round pick. That is our current rule.
So next year, if the first place teams manager quits the new manager would receive one free buyout and one free first round pick. The last place manager who returns receives nothing. That didn’t sit right with us.
Rodger and I have talked about this earlier in the season. I recommended we do what MLB does with their draft. At the end of Round 1 there are extra competitive balance draft picks called Compensatory picks. I proposed our bottom five teams each year receive these Compensatory draft picks at the end of Round 1. There will no longer be an extra first round pick for new managers. . However, all new managers will still receive one free buyout.
Rodger in Moneyballers ran a poll / vote on the proposed change and 14 managers voted. 12 managers voted in favor of implementing this rule change. 2 managers voted no. .
This rule change will begin next season. Our two leagues share common managers. We want the rules / set up / the look / style to be the same in both leagues. I hope this sits well with everyone.

Yes, we are changing wording in the Official Rules for next year in a few area. I would say it’s more in procedures and tightening up the rules than how you would manage your team. Next years rule changes you have been reading here in “Rules Discussion” won’t cause you to manage your team any differently. In the future should there be any major movement to change how we run our league, we would vote on any changes.
It’s not cool to change the game in the middle of the game by a Commish Dictator. That’s not me here in The Grind or Rodger in Moneyballers. If ever you feel otherwise call it to my attention. I’m a big boy and can take it, lol.

As long as we are getting into the details...
The rules say, "- A prospect must be promoted the season after they accumulate 130 at bats or 50 innings pitched." While this is all fine and good, the industry accepts that players with exactly 130 AB/50 IP are STILL prospects.
Its nit-picky, but just looking to avoid future consternation where feasible, as we may have witnessed after 2018 when Alex Reyes had exactly 50 IPs.

I personally would say Reyes would need promoting at exactly 50 IP.

I looked at our official rules. The numbers relevant of 50 innings and 130 at bats are mentioned three times in the rules. Each time the words “less than” is mentioned. Our wording is fine. 50 innings is not prospect status. . The math definition of less than covers any possible confusion.
